The problem

National NGOs in South Sudan were assessed against many different capacity tools, with no common standard for measuring capacity or establishing the level of capacity building each organisation needed.

The solution

An online self-assessment tool with configurable indicators and questions, multiple question types, cascades and skip logic for easier questionnaire creation and management, guided by a weighting and ranking system. It was developed with the National NGO capacity building working group to put in place a common standard for measuring NNGO capacity, add uniformity to evaluation, establish the capacity building each NNGO needs, and strengthen INGO–NNGO partnerships.

We developed the tool in conjunction with the National NGO capacity building working group.

Outcome

A common standard upon which the capacity of national NGOs in South Sudan can be measured.
