The problem

The upper Ewaso Ngiro water catchment is in rapid land-use transition, with severe competition for scarce water and land among a large number of partners and stakeholders — and data from more than 100 monitoring sites that needed to be accessible in one place.

The solution

A platform for accessing a wide range of social, weather and hydrological data, with information drawn from sources including automatic sensors across the watershed, and asynchronous job processing for sensor ingestion, alerting and reporting.

Our role

We built the platform and keep it in production.

Outcome

The platform provides the basis for practical management of the catchment's water and land resources.
